A child is a composite of many different aspects, each of which is a part of the whole process of growth. Neglecting or overlooking any one of these facets of a child’s growing personality will leave an irrevocable dent in the otherwise perfect individual. This book aims to bring forward the development of a child with an overview of the complete holistic approach.
The study of holistic development means a complete educational strategy that aims to develop physical, intellectual, emotional, cognitive, and social abilities in children. It seeks to enhance these skills from the early stages of life, which will lay a strong foundation and prepare them to meet the challenges and difficulties of daily life in the future. E.g. if paid very good attention to the child’s physical growth, but the development of the child’s intellect is neglected then its personality will never be completely prepared to face all situations in life with full efficiency. Similarly, neglect in developing social skills will leave the person out of the mainstream of development in society.
I have identified seven different important areas of development that contribute to form the indispensible, inseparable parts of the whole personality of an individual. An insightful knowledge about the special needs required to carefully foster each of these different area of development, in early years of life i.e. from infancy to pre-school age, will help the parents and teachers to provide necessary support for stronger future growth. It will also help to avoid the pitfalls that can lead to faulty personality development. Besides every child comes to this world with a rich package of latent capacities that can be unfolded with careful handling by care-givers. With right type of fostering some of these can turn out to be the most valuable gifts to the entire humankind.
This book is a source of invaluable knowledge for the holistic development of children. Every parent, teacher and other child-care providers can use it for guidelines and as reference at every stage of child development while working and supporting the growth of their wards.
